We are incredibly excited and honored to have been selected by IlliniCloud as their partner and provider for Identity and Access Management (IAM). Aegis Identity Software will be providing TridentK12 Identity Manager as the foundation for Identity Administration for IlliniCloud and their member schools. In addition, the Aegis Identity Software Federation and Access management team will be assisting IlliniCloud in deployment and configuration of Federation Solutions for IlliniCloud member schools based on CAS and Shibboleth. In conjunction with our relationship to IlliniCloud, Aegis Identity has formed a new relationship with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois). This relationship provides a valuable technical collaboration in developing IAM solutions for P20.
IlliniCloud provides educational technologies for Member K12 schools in Illinois. In addition to IAM solutions with Aegis Identity, IlliniCloud also provides massively scalable computing resources spread across multiple data centers in collaboration with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), a part of the Illinois Shared Learning Environment (ISLE).
The IlliniCloud and NCSA are participating in the “Quilt / InCommon K12 Pilot” project to open the doors of opportunity for K12 organizations to benefit from federated identity and federation providers like InCommon. Specifically, IlliniCloud is involved to validate the models, policies, and processes being developed to provide federated access of cloud services to K-12 and community colleges in partnership with the advanced regional networks supporting research and education. This progressive effort will enhance the educational resources offered to all constituents in the P-20 community.
According to Jason Radford, Chief Technologist of the IlliniCloud, “We are proud of the great progress the IlliniCloud has made to date in terms of resource, networking, and storage capabilities for our participating districts. Having Aegis Identity’s TridentK12 platform in our infrastructure will allow enhanced Identity and Access Management capabilities for our constituents, and will greatly expedite our desire to broaden federation services within Internet2 / InCommon, and “The Quilt”
